18.03.2025

On March 15, 2025, Trans-Oil Group employees actively participated in Republic of Moldova’s national afforestation campaign, “The Great National Planting”, demonstrating their commitment to environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility. Across various locations throughout the country, Trans-Oil teams joined thousands of volunteers in planting trees, contributing to the national effort to restore and expand Republic of Moldova’s forests.

In key regions such as Bălți, Fălești, Florești, Dondușeni, Otaci, Ceadâr-Lunga, and Căușeni, Trans-Oil employees worked alongside local authorities and community members to plant thousands of seedlings, including species such as acacia, oak, and Turkish cherry. The company’s involvement is part of a broader initiative to plant over 8 million trees in 2025, with the goal of rehabilitating 3,500 hectares of land during this season alone.

“Our participation in this afforestation campaign means more than just planting trees – it is an investment in the future of our environment and communities,” said Vaja Jhashi, CEO and founder of Trans-Oil Group. “As a company deeply rooted in Republic of Moldova, we recognize our responsibility to support initiatives that contribute to environmental sustainability.”

The participation of Trans-Oil employees highlights the essential role of the private sector in environmental conservation. Through company-led volunteer efforts, businesses can make a tangible impact on climate resilience and biodiversity restoration. Trans-Oil’s commitment to such initiatives aligns with its broader sustainability strategy, which includes responsible land use and reducing its carbon footprint.

At the end of the planting day, Trans-Oil employees felt that they had contributed to transforming degraded lands into thriving green spaces. Their enthusiasm and dedication underscored the power of collective action in environmental restoration. As the trees grow, so will the impact of these initiatives, promising a greener and healthier future for Republic of Moldova and generations to come.

Local authorities expressed their gratitude to Trans-Oil employees for their active participation in the afforestation campaign, appreciating their valuable contribution to Republic of Moldova’s ecological restoration efforts.

Vitalie Frunză, a representative of I.S. “Moldsilva” in Bălți, stated: “The success of an afforestation campaign depends on strong leadership. A big thank you to Ms. Stella Ostrovetchi, Director of ‘Floarea Soarelui’ S.A., for her support and for the united and friendly team she has built. With such a team, mountains can be moved! May ‘Floarea Soarelui’ S.A. continue to thrive, take part in similar initiatives, and serve as an example for others.”

The afforestation campaign, initiated by the Government of the Republic of Moldova as part of the National Program for Forest Expansion and Rehabilitation – “The Forest Generation”, aims to increase Republic of Moldova’s forested area by 145,000 hectares by 2032. The involvement of companies like Trans-Oil helps turn this ambitious goal into a shared national mission, bringing together public institutions, private enterprises, and civil society in a joint effort to combat climate change and improve the country’s natural landscape.
