The "Floarea Soarelui" plant is a part of TRANS-OIL group, which is the largest company in Moldova producing sunflower oil. The company produces sunflower oil under the trademarks of FLORIS, Privole, Aroma Soarelui, Mister Cook. 90% of Floarea Soarelui's products are exported.

4,430,400 tonnes of crops expected in 2017

According to the Agriculture Ministry, crops have been sown on 1,143,500 ha (96% of the area under crops planned). Wheat has been sowed on 268,900 ha (82% of the 325,000 planned) and the harvest is expected to be 1,061,100 tonnes.

The WB improved the forecast on Moldova's economy growth in 2017 and 2018, but slightly lowered the forecast for 2019

According to the World Bank's June Global Economic Prospects report, the World Bank expects a 4% GDP growth in 2017, instead of the previously forecasted 2.8%, and by 2018 - 3.7% instead of 3.3%. At the same time, though in its previous January report on the Global Economic Prospects WB experts predicted a GDP growth of 3.7% for 2019, now they have lowered their forecast to 3.5%.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Iurie Usurelu stated this at a press conference on May 12. He noted that it would be possible to talk about the sizes and forms of compensation (from direct payments to the provision of equipment) only after receiving and analyzing the information about all plantations and all types of crops, and in view of the fact that some fruits (apples, peaches, etc.) mature later than others, the full picture can only be understood in the first or second half of June.

EBRD revises Moldova’s GDP growth projection for 2017 up 0.5 p.p. from 2.5% to 3%
